Water for Life
We are extremely excited about our Water for Life Campaign. Lack of affordable, pure drinking water is a severe problem in the Dominican Republic and throughout the world. Both city and well water sources are highly contaminated and cause countless health problems, especially for those living in poor conditions. 3.4 million people, mostly children, die from water-related illnesses each year.1 Although most families try to use bottled water to drink and cook with, for many the cost of purchasing water is just too high. Through our Water for Life Campaign, it is our desire to establish water purification and distribution centers in strategic locations throughout the city of San Pedro and other areas of the Dominican Republic. These distribution centers will be able to provide water for the communities at one quarter the normal cost of purified water. The water systems we install ensure that the final product is the purest water available. In addition, these distribution centers will be small business, being self-sufficient financially, providing jobs in the community, and generating income to be used in other community projects. It is our desire to establish distribution points in the children centers and in some churches throughout the city. By doing so, we not only provide high quality water at a highly reduced price to the communities, but we also help the children centers and churches establish an income-generating business which will support their other programs. Our distribution centers can purify and distribute up to 25,000 gallons of water daily. As you can imagine, this can make a substantial positive impact on an impoverished community. The cost of installing a water distribution center is approximately $30,000 US. We are in urgent need of partners to sponsor the cost of our first three distribution centers. If you would like to sponsor a "Water for Life" project, or if you would like to receive more information, please contact us!
