This one event has too changed the direction of VivaKids and we are excited to announce our new program, Food for Children. We have now replaced the VivaKids nutritional food bar to instead provide a VivaKids rice-pack. The reason is two-fold. First, for the same price of ten food bars or $24.90 feeding10 children, we can immediately distribute a vitamin and protein enriched rice-pack providing a meal for 60 children. This rice-pack, provided by Heaven Sent Ministries, is a nutritious food product made of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, chicken flavor and 21 essential vitamins and minerals.  These ingredients have been scientifically formulated to provide for the nutritional needs of malnourished people. Second, distribution is extremely difficult with all the chaos, therefore we have partnered with Food for the Poor, an organization established there, to provide shipping and distribution to those who directly need it today. In fact, a container with over 285,000 meals will be delivered to Port au Prince in February.

In addition to providing food to the Haitians, VivaKids has already begun to reach out to several orphanages who sustained massive damage to their buildings.  Construction is needed and we have begun planning the rebuilding with announcements coming soon.
